Boating

You step onto the boat, and it rocks before it settles. Then you glide out across the water. Mohale Dam is the highest rock-fill dam in Africa, tucked deep in the Maloti Mountains. Cliffs rise up around you, and their shadows fall across the still water. You can paddle a canoe or kayak, or sit back while a guide steers.

Katse Dam is Lesotho's largest, set inside a huge mountain gorge. The water runs deep blue, and the valley stays quiet around you. Fly-fishing trips and boat tours are both popular here. Closer to Maseru, Maqalika Dam is calmer and easier to reach — a good spot for families or first-time boaters to spend an afternoon on the water.
