Katse Dam

A reservoir in the sky
Katse Dam sits high in the Maluti Mountains, its still water stretching across 38.5 km² of mountain scenery. Boat cruises drift out at sunset, when the light catches the water and the surrounding peaks turn gold. It's one of those views that's hard to describe until you've seen it.
This is the highest dam in Africa, supplies water across the region and powers much of Lesotho. Standing on the dam wall, with mountains on every side, makes it easy to forget you're looking at one of the largest concrete arch dams in the world.
